Otterbourne CE Primary School’s Eco meadow building is an inspirational education resource.
Otterbourne Church of England Primary School is fortunate enough to have a rare and diverse meadow which is a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation.
The project aimed to take full advantage of the site’s unique natural assets by creating a sustainable, self-contained, environmentally-friendly base for varied community and school use within limited budgetary constraints.
To this end, The OWL (Otterbourne Wildlife Lodge) was to be very different to their normal school environment and to provide a ‘hobbit style’ inspirational base for life learning in the natural environment. It is an environmentally friendly, fully equipped, low maintenance, wheelchair accessible and self-contained modern structure. The Eco Components include: The Structural Insulated Panel Construction, sustainably sourced timber, recycled tyre roof tiles, sedum/green roof to kitchen pod and air source heat pump.
’Bentley Projects exceeded all expectations with regard to the design and construction of our stunning meadow building. The design was an imaginative, sensitive and affordable response to our requirements.
Careful regard was given to the continuing operation of our school.’
